Colorado Recalls Macias From Lake Erie

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Ray Macias from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. Macias is expected to make his NHL debut tomorrow night against the Phoenix Coyotes at Pepsi Center. Macias, 22, has tallied 18 points (3g/15a) with a +6 plus/minus rating in 36 games for the Monsters this season. The Long Beach, Calif., native also appeared in eight games for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL, recording a goal and five assists. Macias was Colorado?s sixth selection (fourth round, 124th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Macias will become the ninth Colorado player to make his NHL debut this year, the most in a single season in Avalanche history. The Avs had eight players make their debut in 1998-99.

Rangers forward Sean Avery will share ownership duties at a new nightspot in lower Manhattan. Reports indicate he will partner with club owner Matt Abramcyk and Chris Miller, a former art dealer, to open Warren 77, a bar and restaurant at 77 Warren St. Abramcyk has described the new nightspot as a "sports bar meets country club".

Wings, Blues To Play Preseason Games In Sweden

The 2009-2010 NHL season will begin in Stockholm, Sweden for the second straight year at the Ericsson Globe Arena when the Red Wings and Blues face off October 2nd and 3rd. St. Louis and Detroit will begin their visit to Sweden with exhibition games as part of the NHL Premiere Challenge. The Blues will face Link?ping Hockey Club on September 29 and the Red Wings will play F?rjestad BK on September 30.

Rangers Recall D Potter From Hartford; Send D Sauer To Wolf Pack

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that defenseman Corey Potter has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL) and defenseman Mike Sauer has been assigned to Hartford. Potter, 25, has registered one assist in three games with the Rangers this season. He made his NHL debut on December 7 vs. Calgary, and tallied his first career point (assist) on December 27 vs. New Jersey. The 6-3, 200-pounder has skated in 62 games with Hartford this season, recording nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points, along with 82 penalty minutes. He currently leads all Wolf Pack defensemen in goals (nine) and ranks second in assists (20) and points (29). He also ranks first among Hartford defensemen with four power play goals. Potter has posted a career-high, eight multiple-point contests this season, including a three-point effort (two goals and one assist) on February 13vs. Lake Erie. The Lansing, Michigan native was originally the Rangers' third selection, 122nd overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Sauer, 21, has registered six goals and 16 assists for 22 points, along with 35 penalty minutes in 59 games with Hartford this season. He returns to Hartford ranked second among team defensemen in goals (six), tied for third in points (22) and fourth in assists (16). The 6-3, 220-pounder skated in three games with the Rangers, making his NHL debut on Tuesday vs. Minnesota. The St. Cloud, Minnesota native was originally the Rangers? second round selection, 40th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Oreskovic And Pogge Assigned To Marlies

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Sunday that defenceman Phil Oreskovic and goaltender Justin Pogge have been assigned to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Oreskovic, 22, was recalled by the Maple Leafs on March 8 and appeared in 10 games, collecting two points (one goal, one assist) with 21 penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut on March 9 at Ottawa and scored his first NHL goal on March 24 versus Washington (Jose Theodore). Pogge, 22, has appeared in six games with the Maple Leafs this season, posting a 1-4-1 record. In 49 games with the Marlies this season, the 6-3, 204-pound netminder has compiled a record of 23-20-5 with a 2.70 goals against average and a .895 save percentage.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled right wing Brandon Bochenski from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced. Bochenski, 6 foot 1, 187 pounds, has played in 69 games with the Admirals this season, recording 27 goals, 11 power-play goals and 53 points. He leads Norfolk in goals, power-play goals and is second in points. A native of Blaine, Minnesota, Bochenski has played in 121 career NHL games with Nashville, Anaheim, Boston, Chicago and Ottawa. He has amassed 24 goals, 54 points, six power-play goals and two game-winning goals. In 2006-07 he established career highs for games played (41), goals (13), assists (11), points (24), power-play goals (3) and game-winning goals (2) with Boston and Chicago. Bochenski also represented the United States in the 2007 IIHF World Championships, recording two goals and five points in seven games.

Police: Fan Jailed For Threatening Jackets

Police have jailed a fan for making physical threats against the Blue Jackets in a series of phone calls to the team's arena. Peter Stenzel was arrested Thursday night and charged with inducing panic for threatening physical harm against the team during its 5-0 win over the Flames, Columbus Police Sgt. Rick Weiner said. Police traced the phone calls to Stenzel's Columbus home, where they found him wearing a Flames T-shirt, Weiner said.

The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that the team has recalled defenseman Wes O?Neill from the Lake Erie Monsters of the American Hockey League. O?Neill is expected to make his NHL debut tonight against the Vancouver Canucks at Pepsi Center. O?Neill, 23, has skated in 50 games for the Monsters this season, tallying a goal and five assists. He also played six games with the Johnstown Chiefs of the East Coast Hockey League, posting one assist. The Windsor, Ontario native signed with Colorado as a free agent on Aug. 20, 2007 after four seasons at the University of Notre Dame (CCHA).
